Bibliography for “my holiday in… tanzania”
Posted: Thursday July 10, 2008 7:35 PM BT
Arriving to all the noise, the croaking and chirruping of the insects, because it was exciting. We played in our friends' garden and in their treehouse - it was really big and they had chickens, rabbits and a dog. We enjoyed going on safari and being on a tiny island off the coast, because we could go in the sea and feel free. We also liked going to the beach where we stayed in a tiny beach cottage.
WHAT I LIKED

Arriving to all the noise, the croaking and chirruping of the insects, because it was exciting. We played in our friends' garden and in their treehouse - it was really big and they had chickens, rabbits and a dog. We enjoyed going on safari and being on a tiny island off the coast, because we could go in the sea and feel free. We also liked going to the beach where we stayed in a tiny beach cottage.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE

All the insects invading the cereal (we didn't eat it) and being sick when we sailed to an island in a dugout boat. We didn't like saying goodbye to our friends at the end, because we hadn't seen them for a long time and we really enjoyed seeing them and didn't know when we'd see them again. Sometimes it was so hot that we felt sick. We didn't like the disgusting malaria tablets either.

WHAT I SAW

When we went on safari, we saw lots of animals: zebras, a lioness and her cubs, elephants, baboons and strange birds. One was called a starling, but it didn't look like ones that you get at home. There were lizards and we saw millipedes and monkeys in the forest - the monkeys threw nuts at us!

WHAT I ATE & DRANK

When we stayed by the beach we ate lots of fried eggs and at breakfast we had mango, watermelon and other fruit. We bought melon from a farmer in a field. We had to drink filtered water. We ate curries at the hotels and English food when we stayed with our friends.

WHAT I BOUGHT

In Moshi, I [Isobel] bought a blue-and-white bead necklace for me and a purple purse for my friend. Robert bought a wooden car with a Tanzanian number plate.

WOULD I GO BACK?

We would definitely go back if we got the chance to. Everything is so different there. The roads are bumpy and the traffic is dodgy. On safari, it was really quiet - all you could hear were animals and the wind in the bushes.

Isobel and Robert win a 15 book token. National Book Tokens are sold and accepted in all UK bookshops, and make an ideal gift, while helping to promote the enjoyment of reading
