Mbulu's district commissioner, Elias Goroi told reporters last week that he had already contacted several potential donors to help the tribal people who almost still live in the state of nature.

Among those who have been contacted are the national disaster section and non governmental organizations.

Goroi said the Hadzabe often face food shortage especially during the dry season because the tribe mostly depends on wild animals, roots and fruits for food.

The DC said all efforts were being made in the district to enthuse the Hadzabe to change their way of life so as to be able to combat calamities such as hunger, but so far very little progress has been made.

"We gave them seeds for the season but they consumed them as their immediate food and even the hoes that we provided them for agricultural purposes were converted to traditional weapons,"said Goroi.
