TIC identifies ‘beach tourism’ investment sites

Both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar are endowed with ideal sites for beach tourism investment, the Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) boss Emmanuel ole Naiko said recently in Arusha. He cites the idyllic and white sand beaches of Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Mafia, Kilwa, Lindi, Mtwara and Zanzibar as being very fit for hotels and sea sport tourism investments, among others.

In order to develop them, TIC was now encouraging investors from America, Europe and Asia, including local ones to invest in tourism facilities in those areas.
In addition, he said, most littoral towns are ideal for beach resorts notably Tanga, Saadani, Bagamoyo, Mafia, Kilwa, and Mtwara.

TIC also encourages promotion of historical sites such as investment in modern museum facilities, like the over century old German Boma in Bagamoyo which is now an important tourist attraction.

It was now easier to invest in Tanzania than in the past as TIC has become a "one stop facilitative centre for investors", he said.

Under the land bank scheme, TIC can process land leases of up to 99 years and was also empowered to create derivative rights to investors which includes a lease, sub lease and license and so far TIC have in place investment guarantees and mechanism settlements of disputes.
